finals footy!!

hey who's up for footy tomorrow? i was gearing up for a last burst of
finals action for three weeks! maybe with fixed teams for three
weeks!?

but i fear that a few people will be missing tomorrow...

how many are keen? i reckon we should just go to edinburgh gardens.

there's also the suggestion that we culminate the season with an early
match and then a barby and some grand final telly... maybe at tom's
house in yarraville since they have a backyard AND a telly.

comments?

new footy!

well the sheep was awesome! if i had a photo of it i'd put it here.

plus i got a new footy as a present ! we tried it out last week on sunday. very soft. although hard enough to do a bit of damage to fingers in the wrong place..

the fixture says there'll be a game on the burnswick st oval this week... maybe we should go to thornbury?

2 pm!
saturday!
thornbury!
saving any better suggestions...

seeya there

oh plus my number is 0404405454 if anyone gets there with 3 mates and there's noone else there!

Well football definitely wasn't very fucking serious last week...

bit disappointing... bound to happen every now and then i suppose. Apparently john (the new bruce) turned up with 3 mates ! and no one was there... alex and i were there! but a bit late.. and it's true. there was no one else there.

anyway this week it's my birthday party and i have a sheep to baste and turn every now and then. so i can't make football.

how about sunday!>?

2pm at brunswick street?

football is serious

every week i come home from football with more and more bruises and sprains and noises like ohh aahhh when i have to move various body parts around... my girlfriend is starting to become concerned.
i think its a good sign...

although sandy i think you were easier to deal with when you were hungover...

so back at thornbury again this week? i think we can go back to brunswick street the week after.

hopefully the wez will show up this week and we'll have another full house. it's getting good!

seeya there at 2ish

thornbury?

well that was exciting last week. 6 on 5. beyond all expectations. what a difference it makes when you don't have to chase the ball every fucking time... i reckon that third quarter went for about half an hour.

i think the reds were up at the end? Damo? some good score keeping by the way. particularly when i was on your side..

so i reckon thornbury this week? i reckon its worth it to have goal posts. John suggested a ground in Hawthorn.. but it's a bit of a trek naah? well probably not for John...

anyway saving any better suggestions (there's a comments section on this blog you know...2.0)

we'll be here at 2 on saturday:

back to brunswick street

it's probably very likely that we'll have a crowd of this size on saturday screaming on the little guys..

hopefully Wez will find us this week (bit of a fuck up last week -- sorry about that Wez).

anyway if the fixtures are right we'll be on the main oval at burnswick street! if not we'll have to play out the back again... not too bad i spose...

should be good this week. i heard rumour that Damo might even make it! can we get any other new blood along? whats happened to the new bruce? and Waz? and the old Bruce for that matter?

brunswick!!

righto this week it's bloody on. i think everybody should do their utmost best to bring an extra dude. 5 on 5. it must be possible.

bloody good turn out last week ... some hard playing against the wind... awesome oval though Bruce nice work.

and hey nice work Tom for bringing all those extra dudes.

this week should see a Plugger and a Sandeman back in action...also a Sean o'carrol?... although i believe Kidman is out with a grandma in law.

so 2pm, the oval on Victoria Street in Brunswick, next to the bowls club:

this week!

so according to the fixture we'll be able to use the burnswick street oval saturday the 25th july and 15th august and that's it. i called both yarra and darebin and they both said that all their grounds are booked out for ever. wankers. i told them they should turn them all into wetlands.

maybe this week we should just try somewhere else and hope? what's the best bet? princes park? northcote park? (like the end of westgarth street)--> apparently the northcote footy club use that oval, but i couldn't find a fixture for them.

i say northcote park. there's loads of room down there if the main oval is taken toch? so if there's no other suggestions 2pm saturday Bill Lawry oval (fitting dedication to the great man)at the end of westgarth street.

Game Day 3/7/09

Big news this week - Sandeman is back from injury. After a long battle with a horrific injury sustained in the first quarter of the year (something wrong with a tendon on his little finger ...), he's back! Bets will be taken on how long sandy will last before his brittle body gives way again. Best money is anytime before half time. A good value even money bet.

So there'll be a big four quarters of action tomorrow, and what better way to celebrate another victory by the mighty bombers over the pies?

Same spot as always (the scouts have yet to report back with better locations), the back of the Ed gardens - we'll play on the proper oval if it's free, so check there if you're running late and no one's around.

Pictures say more than words

Tough, uncompromising action. That's what the SFL is all about. The pictures below tell the story. Don't think that you won't have to wash your tracksuit pants after the final siren sounds. Because you will. They'll be dirty.

Opening siren round 3.

Bernie's definitely impressed.

Holding the ball? Is there a ball?

Glorious.

The action keeps on coming - round 5 next week, Saturday 2pm as always. Check back here for the location.

real goals!

it was almost a real footy match on the weekend. a couple more dudes and we'll have to play to the middle of the ground.

the real ground, with real goal posts really brought the standard up i thought

alex:
had a good game running off on me and marking in front (until i smashed his face into the dirt and wrestled him even further into the ground when he tried to get up...)

Wezza:

was strong marking as usual...

the two new dudes from the old school were a welcome site back on the ground..

kidman! the surprise leading goal kicker:

at least for the first quarter anyway.

Waz made some incredible leads... shame about the passes always ended going straight into bloody nick eliases hands...

and the new Bruce! the real Bruce will have some real competition when he returns...

it'll be hard to go back to the jumpers for goal posts on the bumpy old kids oval.. maybe we should look for another ground on the weeks when the reds play at home?

Football 2.0

FOotball 2.0 is here!

i know i'm pretty excited.

this new era of techno saviness will ensure that we have atleast more than 3 dudes every week. surely.

so the point:

football is on, every week for the foreseeable winter (until the wetlands take over our poo-ridden footy ground)

at the kiddy oval round the back of edinburgh gardens

2pm saturday arvos

i think the S in SFL stands for saturday. not sandy's. or soft. although sandy may be soft. the hardened winter footy definitely is not.

bring your mates. and some oranges if your keen.

check back to this awesome new blog for Sean's photos from round 6, amazingly interesting updates, and just wait until we link it through twitter to myspace and then rss feed it to facebook. or some shit. it will be wild.
